Amrish Puri, believe it or not, wanted to be a Bollywood movie hero but failed a screen test in 1954. And what a colossal fizzle Subsequently, Mr. Amrish Puri became as one of the most well-known and believable antagonists in Indian film history. His most enduring and frequently cited role is that of “Mogambo,” who goes by the catchphrase “Mogambo Khush Hua.” Mr. India still remembers it with fondness (1987).

He was cast by Shyam Benegal in films including Manthan (1976), Bhumika (1977), and Nishant (1975). In 1984, Yash Chopra cast him in Mashaal, and Steven Spielberg cast him in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), which is the film in which he gained international recognition for the first time as Mola Ram.
